Damp-rated fixtures are used in places that have some contact with moisture vs. direct exposure.
They are not fully sealed but can be used in many situations where they could encounter light moisture such as bathrooms or storage closets, covered patios, doorways, etc. where partial enclosures protect them from the elements.
Wet-rated fixtures are used in places with direct exposure to dew, water, and snow.
