The “Return of The Gods” exhibition at Tate Britain brought together some of the finest pieces of neoclassical sculpture in Britain.
The exhibition designers, Caruso St John, wanted to achieve a strong contrast between the white marble of the statues and their surroundings. High level windows were blacked out, and each statue was lit with a single, narrow beam of white light. 36 remote controlled spotlights fitted with QR111 lamps were selected because the Tate staff appreciated the ability to focus the beams accurately from floor level, without the risk of damaging artworks during set-up.
