Introducing HE Light Engines: Advancing Performance with Purpose

At Luminii, innovation isn’t just about beam quality or tighter optics, it’s about leading the industry toward a smarter, more sustainable future. This month, we’re proud to expand our Precision by Luminii light engine portfolio with new High Efficiency (HE) offerings across both the Solo and Minimo product families.

These additions are more than upgrades; they’re part of a deliberate evolution to support a more carbon friendly future.

Why HE, and Why Now?

The new Precision by Luminii HE light engines were born from a growing global demand: more efficient, high-output lighting solutions that don’t compromise design flexibility or performance. A significant driver has been UK Building Regulations, Part L, which mandates that lighting meets minimum energy efficiency standards of 95 lm/W or greater. But while these regulations shape UK specifications, their impact reaches far beyond one region.

Architects and lighting designers around the world are striving to meet stricter environmental targets and LEED-equivalent certifications. Our new HE options now allow them to do so without sacrificing performance or design intent.

The Performance Story: More Than Just Numbers

Let’s talk about what these new HE light engines bring to the table:

  • Efficiency Gains: Our HE options deliver up to 40% higher efficiency than our ultra-high CRI ‘Plus’ light engines, with some configurations achieving over 120 lm/W—a substantial leap forward.
  • Engineered Tradeoffs: These results are achieved using next generation LED phosphor technology; carefully balancing a slight reduction in Color Rendering Index with extremely efficient performance. While not ultra-high CRI, these HE options still deliver excellent color rendition of CRI 90 Minimum, applicable across most commercial and residential applications.
  • Beam Quality: Our HE engines deliver the same excellent beam quality as our proven ‘Plus’ light engines. Whilst there are minor variations in beam angle availability, overall beam integrity remains uncompromised. This is achieved through the use of advanced TIR optics, optimized for maximizing efficiency without sacrificing the precision you’ve come to expect from our Solo and Minimo ranges.

What Is Part L and Why Does It Matter?

For those unfamiliar, Part L is a cornerstone of UK building compliance. It’s a legislative standard focused on conserving fuel and power in both new builds and retrofits. With ambitious targets aimed at reducing carbon emissions, Part L compliance isn’t just a checkbox, it’s a commitment to future-proofing buildings in a changing climate.

What makes Part L especially important?

  • It ensures reduced energy consumption, helping the UK and other forward-thinking regions meet their carbon neutrality goals.
  • It contributes to healthier indoor environments through improved air quality and thermal performance.
  • And it helps future-proof buildings by preparing them for stricter energy standards yet to come.

With lighting accounting for a sizable portion of commercial energy usage, selecting efficient light engines is essential.

Choose Your Engine: A Range of Options

Whether you’re working on a net-zero office building or a high-end hospitality project, Precision by Luminii offers a scalable range of static white light engines. Here’s how they break down:
