Alva Sconces: Quality Lighting Made in the USA

For projects requiring American-made or Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) compliant architectural lighting, Alva offers a broad portfolio of interior and exterior wall sconces manufactured in Southern California. With options designed for healthcare, education, multifamily and commercial applications, the collection combines domestic manufacturing with customization, durability and reliable lead times.

We started Alva Lighting 15 years ago with a single sconce crafted in China. The product, Betty, is still working flawlessly today, a testament to its exceptional quality. We partnered with a highly reputable contract manufacturer to ensure that every piece met the highest standards of durability and design.

As our product line expanded, managing inventory became a challenge. Like many companies relying on offshore manufacturing, we faced ongoing challenges with rush order delays from Asia, making timely delivery a struggle. To better serve our customers, we need to offer a diverse range of resin choices, finishes, and shapes—at competitive prices and with fast, reliable delivery.

Our Design Your Light product offers over 1400 combinations.

Manufacturing offshore simply wouldn’t allow for the level of customization our customers expect. As soon as customization comes into play, production needs to happen here at home.

That’s why we made the decision to manufacture in Southern California. Over the past decade, we’ve shifted all our production to the USA.

We stock all our products as raw material, pulling resin (shade material) and shaping it to order. Our aluminum is painted with precision to match each customer’s specifications, and we expertly assemble all finished components expeditiously.

This manufacturing philosophy allows us to deliver exceptional quality, competitive pricing, and reliable lead times—all while keeping production local.

What is BABA compliant lighting and when is it required?

As a provision of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, this initiative strengthens domestic manufacturing by requiring federally funded infrastructure projects to use materials that are produced in the United States. The Act is designed to boost the economy, create jobs, and promote sustainable practices through domestic sourcing of manufactured products and construction materials.

Almost our entire line of sconces* is now Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) compliant.

Our goals are simple:

To deliver exceptional quality, craftsmanship and durability without compromising on reliable lead times or rational pricing.
